North Miami officer killed when hit by car - 02/29/2008 - MiamiHerald.com

Our Prayers for Officer Fritz Doucet and his family.  As a North Miami resident whose family enjoy life in part secured by Officer Doucet's caring, I will miss his presence.  God bless his life and family. 

BY LAURA MORALES llmorales@MiamiHerald.com A North Miami police officer was killed Friday in Fort Pierce when he and a friend were hit while standing in the emergency lane of Interstate 95. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Officer Fritz Doucet, 37, and West Palm Beach resident Raul Ortiz had been riding their motorcycles north in I95 when they stopped a about 12:15 p.m. at Mile Marker 141. The were in the emergency lane when they were hit by a 2007 Saturn. The driver of the Saturn, Dominique Louise Brice, 24, lost control of the car and hit the two men, who were standing next to their motorcycles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Doucet, a nine-year veteran with the North Miami Police Department and father of two boys, died at the scene. Ortiz was killed as well. The accident is under investigation and charges against Brice are pending.
