Group criticizes teaching plan under board's review

The controversy over teaching intelligent design in Ohio's public schools likely will re-emerge Monday before the state board of education.
A proposal under consideration by a board committee is a Trojan horse carrying religion into the science curriculum, a group claimed in a news teleconference yesterday.

Members of the group, Campaign to Defend the Constitution, spoke against a proposal to the board's achievement committee which they said names evolution, global warming, stem-cell research, and cloning as "controversial" ideas that need to be handled in a special framework.

"Intelligent Design is creationism in disguise." is false, prejudiced statement. Intelligent Design is the effort of scientists to allow people the opportunity to make their own decision when presented origin science as it is understood in light of ongoing scientific research and inquiry. I am not a creationist and I want my children to be presented the facts as they are understood now, including Darwin's Theory. Go to Audible.com. Search for "Kansas". You will find the 4 days of the Kansas Board of Education's evaluation for setting the state's science standards in 2005. It's is free to the public. It was eye opening for me. I can now imagine what the inquisition was like during the 13th to the 16th century.

Your article was thoughtful and fair. I appreciate your effort to do honest journalism.

David Klinghoffer on Kansas Science Standards on National Review Online

This is sad news. Last year critical analysis won out over Darwinian Dogma in Kansas. The audio of the 4 day trial in Kansas is available for free at audible.com. Go to the search bar and enter "evolution" then look for the least expensive and there it is waiting to be downloaded. Then you'll know what the inquisition was like. In the search for truth dogma should be no bedfellow. What do you think?

David Klinghoffer on Kansas Science Standards on National Review Online: "Will Darwinism be taught as unquestionable dogma? ThatÂ’s the question that voters decided. In Kansas, it seems it will.

Kansas has been one of five states with biology curricula that include instruction about the evidence both for and against neo-Darwinism, requiring that students learn about the “critical analysis” of evolutionary theory. Darwin advocates worked hard to defeat the majority on the education board and eliminate this requirement. On Tuesday they succeeded in this first objective, and the second will follow in due course.

The current “controversial” Kansas Science Standards very clearly do not mandate that students learn about intelligent design. On the contrary, as the board explained, “We also emphasize that the Science Curriculum Standards do not include Intelligent Design.”

Can’t get much clearer than, can you? Yet an outfit called Kansas Citizens for Science argued exactly the reverse — that the Kansas Science Standards do indeed mandate instruction about ID. It ended up convincing the voters. Or rather, deceiving them.

It was all part of a campaign, on behalf of liberal candidates for the education board that included other bold falsehoods. For example, the Darwin faction scared Kansas educators with the prospect of being sued on the basis of the 2005 Kitzmiller v. Dover decision in Pennsylvania. In fact, Kitzmiller is irrelevant to a curriculum in Kansas that does not advocate teaching about ID.

Opponents of the school board’s majority also argued that the science standards represented “science-bashing” by an “anti-science cabal” –- in the words of an editorial in the Witchita Eagle. "

On Sept. 10th and 11th ABC will air a documentary on Terrorism leading up to Sept 11, 2001. Watch for it. People of conscience can recognize the evil of terrorism; death machinery created for the massacre of innocents for the purpose of instilling fear . . . controlling by fear . . . maintaining fear if they are not appeased. The difference can be shown in reference to recent movies. United 93 and this ABC documentary will open the door on terrorism. The WTC Towers by Oliver Stone is a calamaty movie without revealing the designer of the calamity; terrorism.

Today in 1972 terrorism breathed a foul stench over the world . . . read on from the wikipedia va answers.com.

Munich massacre: Information From Answers.com: "The Munich Massacre occurred during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, when members of the Israeli Olympic team were taken hostage by the Palestinian terrorist organization Black September, a group with ties to the late Yasser Arafat's Fatah organization. The terrorist operatives eventually murdered 11 Israeli athletes and one German police officer. Five of the eight kidnappers were killed by police during an abortive rescue attempt; the three taken into custody were later released by Germany following the hijacking of a Lufthansa airliner. Israel later mounted a sizable reprisal campaign, assassinating a number of individuals believed associated with the Munich operation." Click here to read further.
